DESCRIPTION

Inflammation of the spleen.

Symptoms and indications:

Nausea, vomiting, aggravated respiration, elevation of temperature, pain and tenderness in the left hvpochondrium.

Causes and risk factors:

The acute form is secondary to the acute infectious diseases; the chronic form occurs with chronic malarial infection and passive congestion of the spleen, while the suppurative form is secondary to infectious embolism, or occurs as the result of traumatism, perforation of a gastric ulcer or suppuration in the surrounding organs
