Cloves/Long (لونگ) are one of the spices indigenous to Asian countries like Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and even areas of East Africa. It is native to the Maluku islands in Indonesia. Cloves are a popular flavouring agents used in a variety of ways across the world, particularly in Asia. Cloves form the culinary base in a number of different Asian cuisines. Clove is the dried bud of the flower Eugenia Aromatica from the tree Syzygium aromaticum. It belongs to the plant family Myrtaceae. The plant is an evergreen plant growing in tropical and subtropical conditions. Clove is herb and people use various parts of the plant, including the dried bud, stems, and leaves to make medicine. Clove oil is also famous for its medicinal properties.

Recommended Dosage:

Cloves : 0.5 to 2 g powder; Oil : 1 to 3 drops for external use.

Contraindication:

Clove oil is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women or for children. People over sixty-five years of age should start with lower doses and then increase. Until further research is completed, anyone with a history of cancer should not use therapeutic amounts of Clove. Clove oil is very strong and may cause irritation if used in its pure form; therefore, do not exceed the recommended dose. Do not take Clove without talking to your doctor first if you are taking: Blood thinning medicine (examples: warfarin (Coumadin), clopidogrel (Plavix), aspirin, etc.
