Chebulic Myrobalan Yellow/Halila Zard (ہلیلہ زرد) also known as Myrobalan and Terminalia Chebula, is one of the three key ingredients in Triphala, a natural compound that provides overall support for digestive function and helps ensure that the digestive tract works at optimal levels.
The Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia has documented the use of the powdered herb in intermittent fevers and chronic fevers, anemia and polyuria. Chebulic Myrobalan can also be used to treat gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders. It is also used topically as a mouthwash and gargle. Intravaginally, It is used as a douche for treating vaginal infections.
Chebulic myrobalan is possibly unsafe during pregnancy. There is not enough reliable information about the safety of chebulic myrobalan if you are breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use. It might lower blood sugar levels. Your diabetes medications might need to be adjusted by your healthcare provider. It might decrease blood sugar levels and interfere with blood sugar control during surgery. Stop taking chebulic myrobalan at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.
