As a powder up to 6 grams can be taken daily. As a tincture use, 20 drops 3 times a day. In capsules for motion sickness take 250 mg 3 times a day.

Making Tea

Take a 2-inch piece of galangal and slice it thin, place the slices in a cup of boiling water and steep for 15 minutes and drink. If using powdered galangal take a 1/2 teaspoon of powder and place in a cup of boiling water and steep for 10 minutes and drink.

No Side Effects – Galangal tea or capsules in normal doses does not have any side effects. But it does slow down the release of lipase by the pancreas so use it in moderation like all herbs. But as always those who are pregnant, nursing, or small children should not take galangal root. I recommend taking all herbs for no more than 7 to 10 days and then taking a break… and then repeating if needed.
