Catarrh Disease نزلہ
DESCRIPTION
Inflammation of the mucous membrane, especially of the nose and throat, with a constant flow of mucus.
Persons most commonly affected:
Inflammation of the mucous membrane, especially of the nose and throat, with a constant flow of mucus.
Organ or part of body involved:
Mucous membranes of nose and throat.
Symptoms and indications:
A constant flow of mucus and some discomfort in breathing, particularly when lying down.
Causes and risk factors:
It may be the result of hayfever, flu, colds, enlarged adenoids, nasal polyps or sinusitis. Certain drugs may also stimulate the nose to produce a discharge.
Prevention:
If you have a stuffy nose and live in a hot, dry, centrally heated house, try turning down the thermostat and using a humidifier. If smoke is the problem, avoid any kind of smoky atmosphere, and if you smoke, cut down or, better still, give it up altogether. Eat plenty of onions or onion soup, both of which contain vitamins C and E. Onions are the ultimate anti-catarrhal vegetable. Minimize fatty foods and drink as much water as possible.
